I sooo need to get my cosmetology license. OK, I did have someone wanting the same exact thing done, but I knew they would be pissed with results, so I suggested something. Black hair, is beautiful, and healthy looking, because of the sheen. I would say, and dont fret, to get a developer, and activator, such as BLUE (brand, not color), and lighten your hair for a "few" minutes which is a bleaching method. YOU will not "bleach" your hair, but you will take just enough "black" off so it will allow other colors to stain your hair. After you do that, I would suggest using temporary rinses, like Jazzing or Clairol temporary colors. This method seriously, saves the health of your hair, and you can change up colors every month. PS, temportary colors, like cellophanes, are actually semi-permanent conditioners. Meaning, as long as the temp color is visable, your hair is being conditioned. Read about it before you make a decision, but the girls Ive done this too, LOVE ME. Good luck.

instead of doing all over color, why don't you ask your hair stylist to highlight your hair to the appropriate level (maybe a 4 or a 5) and then redeposit permanent color onto those highlights, so it looks like you have multidimensional hair, instead of one flat color.

no, listen just use perminate if you don't like just dye it over it... i have the same issue just buy some dye at like taget or cvs but buy the lightest blonde there that makes it the redish color you want.

I have black hair, and I used to dye it to a dark brown/reddish tint. I used Feria- Bordeaux (basically the hair color on the box looks auburn but since my hair is so black it give it a reddish brown tint).

Whatever you do, don't BLEACH!
