Do highlights in black hair look good and still professional??

I have natural black hair. It's very fine and short and boring, so I was thinking of getting highlights. What color highlights would look good? I can't do anything crazy (like purple or pink or real light blonde) because I need it to still look professional enough for work. (I'm an accountant) Any suggestions would be appreciated. :) Thanks in advance.

Natural black hair is awesome! I really don't dig very contrasting highlights with it though. Black hair can have a wonderful luster, so I suggest something that might bring out that luster, like a dark orange/red crimson or a shiny hazelnut brown or walnut...... it won't show up to much, but it will make your hair shine!

Probably not:(

most of the time, people do streaks in yellow. red on black looks really good, but I don't know if that'd be professional enough. Brown on black is pretty subtle for professionals though

I generally do not like highlights in black hair. It looks too radical to me. But at a high school reunion last year, I met an older lady that had black hair and had red/burgundy highlights in her hair and they were beautiful. You could not notice them unless she was under the light, but the highlights made her shiner looking. Really pretty.

You can get lowlights in the dark brown family to give your hair more depth.
