How do I remove black dye from my hair without bleach or strippers?

Ok, so I'm not getting the answer I want...apparently I have to strip my dyed black hair in order to dye it bright red...So does anyone know how I can get this black out of my hair(at least somewhat) so that I can dye over it. I don't want to use a bleaching or stripping kit.

I'm Not Sure Why You Want To Avoid "Bleaching Or Stripping" As These Are The ONLY Way to SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY Remove Haircolor. However, There Are Products Called Haircolor Removers Which Work By "Reducing"(Uncoupling) The Dye Molecules. Basicly, it Reverses The Process That Occurs When You Dye Your Hair. Turning The Large Dye Molecules Into Small "Colorless" Molecules Which Simply Wash Out Of The Hair. (Jeri Redding One N' Only鈩?Is One) These Products Can Be A Little Tricky To Use, Be Sure To Follow The Directions CAREFULLY.Otherwise You Could Try CLAIROL庐 METALEX鈩?Mixed With Peroxide. Good-Luck!

I dyed my hair black last year, and a red john freida toner helped lighten it a little, and then I went to the salon and the put light red highlights in it that also lightened it without damaging it.

Without using bleach or strippers, you will just not get your hair very "un-dyed". You could try to fade it out with cleansing shampoos, you know the kind sold to remove "build up". These shampoos are a big no no for colored hair because they fade it badly. The Shampoos claim to rid hair of hard water build-up, chlorine build up and styling product build up. Pantene has one, as do many other brands. Go to a salon and tell them you'd like to get a build-up removing shampoo. While this will not make your hair blonde again from dyed black it may fade it abit so that you could dye it say medium brown without having to bleach it first.

A long long time ago I bought a product by Infusium that was mostly castor oil that claimed to remove the color from demi-permanent dyes AND hennas... Might be worth doings some internet research on.

Good Luck.
