Hey, I have black hair and I want to know how to get light/dark brown highlights/streaks? Which color shade should I purchase?

I would go for darker tints. Lighter tints will make your hair look like a ridiculously groomed circus animal.

Get a lighter colour if your hair is really dark because if you just get a brown it wont work. so try to get a blonder or a colour such as that. I know this because when i did my friends hair she bought the wrong one and it didn't show up in her hair which at that time was dark. Another cool idea is dyeing the tips blue.it may sound weird but its not.

You can't lighten Black hair unless it is virgin hair. You can't cover up died hair unless you are going darker. You would have to strip your hair. It will more than likely turn out orange.

If you already dyed it with a blonde and it's orange you have 2 options....one is to find a color that matches your's and scrap the whole thing, the other is to get a SEMI- perminant color in the shade of medium neutral brown, and aply on the orange peices, it will tone it to a pretty golden brown. Semi perminant is imprtant because it wont lift any of the hair you didnt put the blonde on. GOOD LUCK!
