I have hair that is dark brown on the innermost layer, medium brown on the outer layer, and the very top turns gold in the sun (It is naturally like this.) It is EXTREMELY thick and curly and frizzy (I probably have the biggest hair in the school.) I have a light tan, brown-black eyebrows, and dark brown eyes. I would love to have black hair, but I am worried about whether or not it would look good. What do you think, and how could I go about dying it a very dark black? Outlandish ideas are perfectly fine with me.

there's really no problem with getting your hair dyed black. if you're going to a salon just ask for the blackest black (since thats what you want) or they might be able to show you color samples and pick from there. if you do it yourself from a box just look for the darkest one. there's also some black dyes that have a bit of blue in them and thats pretty cool too. i dyed my hair very black also. i actually had 3 different hair colors as well. the bottom had a hint of red, the middle was medium brown and the top was dark dark brown..you can imagine it was a mess! but when i dyed it black it all evened out. everything was nice and dark. and you say you have a little tan..thats good. you don't wanna be really pale and have dark hair and look almost gothic like me. lol.

For some reason, hair that has been dyed black looks just that dyed black. It is nasty, don't do it. Nothing looks worse. Get yourself a good wig

you would probably do fine dying your hair black! a few of my freinds did it and it looks really nice but if you use a box try to get someone that knows what they are doing so you don't come out uneven! good luck!

you shouldnt get your hair dyed black unless you intend to stay that color for a long time, end up bleaching your hair out, or letting it all grow out. black hair dye is so saturated that the only way to get it out is to bleach it.

black dye isnt anymore saturating than other dyes...you can get a semi-permanant dye to see it you like the results...plus...black won't look flat if you add intensifiers to it...more naturally raven haired people have a blue-ish tint to it or red underlying pigments....
if your hair is a med/light brown ...your stylist will probably use a filler to get you down to a level one, which is black the darkest on the color scale (pale blonde being the highest)....with that filler you can choose what tone of black you want...whether it be red, gold, natural or ash....and depending on how your hair is cut should be a factor in your choice....your color and look good but if it doesnt suit the haircut....its a no-no...try getting your hair thinned and texturize to fit the color
ps...don't use box color...its hard to strip out the metalic dyes in it...if you want it done cheap go to a hair school...don't worry the services are done under the supervision of a licensed instructor....better than letting someone with no cosmetology hours doing it right?
