How fast does black hair dye fade?

i want to use clairol natural instincts in "midnight" which i s a soft black, but i want to know how long the color will last? and how can i keep it shiny and healthy looking as long as possible? what are some good shampoos/conditioner

also my hair is really dry.

It depends on what color your hair was prior to dying it. If it was dark, the fading will be much less noticable than if your hair was blonde.

Pantene makes some really good shampoos and conditioners for hair that is colored/dry.

depends what colour your hair is originally. if its dark then the colour will stay a long time. just get a lot of moisturizing products to put in your hair and try giving it a hot oil treatment or deep conditioning treatment once in a while.

My hair is dark brown and I use Medium brown and my hair turns out black because I leave it on longer than it calls for to cover my gray. For me, it takes about two months for it to fade. I use the Pantene shampoo for Brown colored hair to make it last longer.
