I did the same mistake.i was going for my natural hair color which was dark brown.but i thought hey...why not black.but it turned out way toooo dark for my shade.Go to your local drug store and get LOREAL COLOR ZAP. its like under $10. it removes ALL unwanted permanent hair dye and is ready for immediate color.

That's really hard. You're going to have to bleach your hair and re-dye it. But when you do that, if you're using an over the counter dye, your hair has a 99% chance of turning a dark green shade. I would call your local salon and have a professional do it! =)

thats a tough one. the only way you will lighten it is to bleach it. although if you only want it dark brown-i dont know how long ago you colored it but color remover works if you have done it in the past two weeks. even if you had to bleach it out-it wouldnt do that much damage. its not like your going to black to platinum blonde. good luck.

If you used permanent haircolor, the only way to remove it is with bleach or a color remover. The problem, it doesn't always remove evenly. You might have light %26amp; dark patches. It's best to get this fixed at a salon, as it's not an easy process. And, it's corrective color, so it can be expensive.

You could opt for highlights all over your head to give you the appearance of a lighter color, without all the corrective work needed.

Finally, if you used Semi Permanent color, you can visit Sally Beauty and buy a Semi-Permanent haircolor remover called Uncolor. You lather it thru your hair, leave it on for 30 min and it will pull off the semi-permanent color.

First, did you use permanent hair color? If so, you will need to visit a salon to have it fixed correctly. If you used a semi permanent hair color. Relax, use liquid tide and baking soda, yep, I said Baking Soda to remove the heavy coating of color. Take the liquid tide and lather your hair. Take a portion of the lather and add some baking soda. This mixture will make a paste, apply it to the hair and re-lather. Rinse and repeat as needed. Be sure to condition your hair after. You can also try this on permanent hair color. The hair shaft is coated with the color, you can gently lift, but not remove the color. Sometimes you can lift just enough off the shaft. This will by no means correct the color. It may lighten and help remove the semi-permanent hair color. Do not apply bleach or any other lightener yourself. Go to a salon and have it corrected by a professional. Many bad things can happen if the correction process is wrong. Hair loss, breakage, odd colors, and skin reactions.
