I recently put a black dye in my hair (BIG mistake...dont reccomend it!) if i put a light brown in...will i have light brown or really dark broen hair?

i am sorry but putting a light brown shade on top of black will not cancel it out. there is a phrase used in my industry that states "colour will not lighten colour" which is absolutely correct. the only ways that you can remove this mess is to either bleach it out and the recolour to the shade of your choice (not reccommended) or to use an oxydising agent which will safely reduce the colour molecules and release them from your hair - in other words a colour remover. Goldwell are the best in professional products and will safely remove the colour without ANY damage to your hair. please bear in mind though that you will still need to recolour at the end of the process as the hydrogen peroxide carrier that you would of used in the black dye will have lightened your natural undertones so your natural haircolour will now most likely be orange. also bear in mind that you will now need to use a colour 2 shades lighter than you are hoping to acheve as it will invariably end up 2 shades darker after using the colour remover. so if you are aiming for a level 4 ash brown then use a level 6 dark blonde. best of luck.

use soemthign even lighter. i had to use a blone to get my hair to like a meduim brown.

no because colour on top of colour always goes darker(even blondes)the only way to go lighter is to bleach your hair-not recommended D.I.Y

If anything, it will probably only lighten it to a darkest brown (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because brown hair is IN!) :P

So I would say do that so that the black is mostly gone.. My nana accidentally dyed her hair black (the hair dye kit said it was blonde, turned out was wrong bottle , came out black), and she dyed hers a medium to light blonde and it took it all out!!

So you could also try that!

yuh should of did the tempo. hair dye then dye it permently.

my hair was black i dyed light brown and it canceled the black so kno my hair is rly light

afta i dyed it light brown i put in blonde highlights its gonna look rly kute!

well black hair is still really prettty, light brown is to common, I have dark brown, but here's a tip before you actually put it in your hair, soak your hair in lemon juice for a couple hours, I'm not saying it will lighten your hair up a shade, but it will create more colors to form in the hair so it will look more natural than if you just did the brown.

Hi I tried this before thinking it would work but it never nothing happend it went slightly lighter but as I had 2 tone hair you could tell that the black was still there, it took me ages to get it out in the end I pre lightnend it as its less harsh that bleching it and it went a dark auburn lol so that wasnt recommended either as no other colour other than black or darkest brown would cover it.

I wouldnt recommend putting a really light shade on as it most likely will get an orange tinge to the hair and will look a funny colour, the only thing I can recommend to you is just keep washing with a shampoo like pantene Ice shine, and in about 2 weeks or so you will see the colour fading and it should be out in a few months.

It grew on me the black and I actuall preferred it in the end, but its the worse colour to get rid off and I would always recommend using a semi permenant dark colour incase you end up hating it like you do now .

nothing cancels out black. It is the hardest color to remove. The only way to get rid of it is to stripit and recolor it to the shade you want

if you bleach your hair it will go orange then when it is orange put a medium brown die over it DO NOT USE ash brown or anything ash. get a red brown or chocolate and it will be fine. good luck
