Is dying the bottom of my hair black a good idea?

I have kind of dark brown hair, and I was thinking of dying it just a little bit darker, then dying it black underneath, and then maybe streaking it with black.

I've seen it on people before, and it looks so much better than it sounds. But I'm not sure if it's a good idea..it might be a little too much, I'm thinking.

Also, does anyone have any pictures of two-toned brown and black hair i might be able to show to a stylist if I decide to do it?

this is called low lights and it would look great but remember that black is the hardest color to get out if you ever want to change your hair color....dark brown will have the same effect as black its very dark and it will work just fine.

when i saw this question i got scared cuz i thought you were gonna be blonde... lol.. it looks so stupid when people do that with blonde hair! but i think it would look really good with dark brown hair. i wouldn't streak it with black though, like you said, it might be too much. it's probably be better if you did lowlites of a color between the dark brown and the black, you know what i mean? so that there's a more natural, smooth transition.

Don't use black. It's so hard to get out of your hair if you want to. Instead use a very dark brown color.

My friend put black underneath her hair but hers was bleach blonde. I'm not really sure how good it would look with dark brown hair.. I guess you'll never know until you try. I'd dye your hair with the semi-permanent dye that washes out in a day first to see how it looks and if you like it you can redo it with permanent. Hope I helped you a little.
