My hair is naturally black and i want to dye the parts underneath a deep purple. I want to tint it, so that the purple shows when the light hits it

Just dye over your natural colour and it will turn out how you want it, JUST like you want it, a purple shine in the light.

GO with the l'oreal brand if your going store bought, they do actually have a purple/blue tinted black but if you go to a salon, you may have a little more options and it won't be so bad for your hair.

you can just put the purple right over the black, that will show when the light hits it. trust me i do it to my girls in the salon all the time.

most likely your not gonna get purple to pull over black with out some other chemical(bleach) you could try a brand like punky which is a semi permanent color that washes out in a couple months and you will get a tint of purple. it will really show in the light but its still gonna be pretty dark because of your black hair. good luck

I have dark brown/black hair, too. And I bleached it when I dyed my hair, but before that I would streak it on days like halloween. It would only last for about a day, but it did show up nicely. You also have to buy more color cartridges when you run out, but it's worth it. I bought mine at Target for only 20 bucks a while ago.

You can't. But don't worry bleaches really aren't as harsh as people let on, obviously they damage hair. But if you take good care of it and don't do it too often or use too strong of one it will be fine. On a side note purple is hard to maintain and take care of. You could always just get purple clip in human hair extensions.
