Has anyone colored over black hair and got a brown or reddish brown?

my hiar rwas dyed to dark at the salon and i have a light complection so it looks horriable

white skin with blue eyes and my natruael haure color is blonde

so you can maybe understand how pale it makes me look and gothic which isnt my thing

im not gonna go back to the salon!!! (i know a alot of you will say that but its outta the question)

i cant afford the prices to go to another one.

so i was woundering if i used any light browns or dark bloneds or maybe even light red that it would lighten my hair and help it look a little more brown and less black?

has anyone ever done this?

if so what colors and brand of dye did you use?

and how soon after getting your hair colored black did you do it?

i would wait for the color to fade. otherwise you'll have to bleach it and dye over, which will fry your hair. think of hair dye as paint... can you get a lighter color out of black just by mixing more colors in it??

it WILL fade. permanent or not. especially since your hair was blonde. just wait a month or two. good luck and i hope this helps!!

If your hair was done black it is very hard to lighten on your own, you could try a med brown to lighten it a little, but I don't really think it will work. Blonde hair dye will not work on black hair. What you really need to do and I know you said it wasn't an option, but it needs to be bleached to a lighter color and then colored over and have a toner put over it. Which you can't do at home unless you have a friend who is a hairstylist and can get to a beauty supply store, because you can't buy those products at the drug store.

N0! they will just make ur hair color worse...it will eventually fadfe off...maybe ur just not use to it. in two weeks go back and dye it a color you want..but wiat you dont want to damage ur hair more

ooops i've done this and black is the most difficult colour to undye. you should wait about a month to give your hair a rest. i tried some l'oreal highlights to soften the black and it came out copper and i had to dye them again in a dark blond/ brown to make it look natural. but basically you have to wait until the new roots start coming out and you colour them a brown tone and waaaaaaaaaaitttt. that's what i did.
