How to lighten naturally brownish black hair?

How can I lighten my almost-black hair?

BESIDES having it dyed. Don't give me any obvious answers like that.

They say that spending time in the sun can help, its what people back in the day (1300's-1500's) used to do when they wanted to lighten their hair. I don't know if you have the time to hang out in the sun all day though.

u can bleach it, but its very harsh on ur hair and will kill it and on top of that fry it. so i say keep ur natural hair!

The reason "having it dyed" is obvious is because it is true. I have the same color hair. I wanted to lighten it with a perm. color and bought a medium brown. Of course, it looked brassy/ red. My horrifying expensive and well worth it hair stylist explained that you have to remove color "beyond" this reddish stage and then add it back in to make a lighter brown color, ala J-Lo. Her color maintenance is extremely expensive. My solution.....use Kerastase products, and make my almost black hair blindingly shiny.

Well, I used this product called Sun - In and it's this lemon thing to spray in your hair and sit around in the sun. It worked so well for me, but it gives you more of a semi highlighted than a whole hair dye, but you can always spray it around your hole hair!!!!! Hop I helped! Good Luck.
