Someone help!!!!!! I dyed my hair black and I want to go back to light brown.How......?

How to I go from black hair to light brown? I have tried the dye that sys it is for dark hair only but it didn't work at all. It only gave the hair a greenish tint and now I hate it even more. Some one please help!

Ok, I Am a licensed beautician, and you have to go to the salon... if you bleach it you risk frying you hair and it just all breaking off, at a beauty salon they are trained to know the effects of bleach on certain hair dyes... if you have the box or know what kind of color it is helpful (you cannot bleach out a metallic hair color, so check that out first) if you put more color on it, it will just get darker... I had a similar issue once, and i slowly had them put highlights in my hair to lighten it up but it is either a slow process or you risk having horrible hair... sometimes black is better than none!!

I think I saw a product not too long ago that removes dye from your hair. I'm not sure if it works or not, but you might want to look for it in your neighborhood drugstore. What I really recommend, though, is going to a good beauty parlor and telling them that you want them to put your hair back the way it was. They will be able to do it, so don't worry.

Dye it pink or green or some other crazy color.

If it doesn't work out, either shave it off, or wear a wig!

Or you can be boring and just go to a beauty salon, and they'll fix it up.

Oh god. It's really hard to dye lighter, especially when it's black. Maybe take baby steps and first dye it dark brown, wait for a few weeks. Then dye it lighter brown, wait for a few weeks. Then dye it the light brown that you want. Or if you don't want to wait, go see a professional.

I have had something like this happen before. You'll have to go to a salon and have a specialist bleach your hair before they can put another color on it. Nothing will cover black so it's the only way to un-do it. I had to to this when my hair was black and I wanted to be more of a brown. It shouldn't be that costly, my salon is pretty cheap about 40-50.

let the black wear down a little. Then when it's not really black anymore- dye it brown unless it's already brown.

Have you tried bleaching it? It will turn it to a reddish-brown then you can dye over it. This will damage you hair but it WILL work. Also, they have a product called "color-oops" but I personally don't think it works too well on black hair. Good luck!

And side note - is it that simple! I've done in a million times in the past (when my hair was short) and my Mom dyes her hair on a regular basis....10 times in one week and her hair is fried but its still all there!

go to a professional ONLY!!! you will severly damage your hair if you try to mess with this on your own. this is corrective color and is a very delicate and complicated process. it is no where near as simple as other posters are saying it is.
