Question about highlighting black hair.?

I have black hair. I wanted to know if i need to bleach it to put highlights in it. If i do then im not going to put the highlights in. I heard that bleaching your hair is the worst thing you could do to it.

Question about highlighting black hair.?

i don't know where the other two people have trained but you most certainly do not have to use bleach, if you want white hair which to be honest would look ridiculous on black hair then you would need to use bleach, anything above 3 shades is classed as a highlight, this can be achieved with a tint, also there is a colour remover, this removes colour pigment from the hair shaft so that another colour can be applied, bleach on the other hand shrinks the colour molecule this in turn usually means that you need a toner to neutralise the remaining warm tones lift by the bleach, depending on the colour you want you can get this done without using bleach, also there are some great bleaching agents now being used by l'oreal that are very gentle on the hair if only used on occasion, a little known face is that even when darkening your hair if you use a peroxide above 3% the hair colour is lightened before the colour darkens, you therefore can have lighter hair without the use of bleach

Thanks for asking this! Helped me alot too x Report It

Question about highlighting black hair.?

Bleaching is the only way to make your hair color lighter (especially if you have black hair), so yes you have to bleach it. Bleach will change the texture of your hair if you use it, and over time will make it feel like straw.

Question about highlighting black hair.?

If your hair is that dark, Yes you will have to bleach but Depending on where you go there are great bleaching brands! I would ask what they use and makes sure it not kilidacolors or BW2, they will makes you hair dry but "ID Rusk" is a wonderful product! It will leaves your hair smooth and heathy. Just be very careful and picky about where and who does your hair, this is not a good time to be frugle spend the money and get what you want, also for your hair is "black" i would not go to light to fast start with a carmel color, it will be to harsh on your skin and hair, you have to find a color that will complament you not wash you out!! Good luck!!
