I need to change my dyed black hair to a different color how do i do it?

this summer i bleach my hair ultra light blonde from my natual dark brown hair, i had to bleach it twice, then when winter came i dyed it black, now i want to go to and light brown or dark blonde, but i'm afraid of damaging my hair if i bleach it again. i also have green streaks in my hair right now. What do i do?

Um i had to get 4 yrs of black dye out of my hair..(i had dyed my hair black at least twice a year for 4 yrs)

When i wen to a hair stylist she said i would never get the dye out..

BUTT I did it myself.. and it worked..

What i did was go to a store and buy 40% bleach i think and color zap by lo'real or whatever... Go to a beatuy store for this and ask the lady about it..

This will turn your hair either a brown or orangy colour but since you have green in it it will be multi colored..dont worry

Make sure you have a dye (preferablly a real light blonde dye)

So you can dye your hair right atfer you do this..i would wait a day..but color zap is made to take colour out so you can dye it right then.

The blonde dye will even out the colour so its not blotchy...

If your hair didnt get to a lighter colour..then wait a week then dye it a blonde again..after its light enough for whateverr color you want, dye it to your liking

REMEBER!! If you use a little extra conditioner after dying you hair..(not the rinse when you use the conditioner that came with the dye...but the days afterwards) your hair will stay more healthy..

alsoo..wait ATLEAST a week between dyes..and a day after colour zap..

.You might not need blonde dye if your hair gets light enough after the zapp..i needed it cause i have so much black dye in my hair..

you need to get stripper...they used to sell it at wal-mart but i got some at wal-greens. it will strip all the color from ur hair so you can dye it what ever color u want

That's your only choice... It should be healed enough that it won't COMPLETELY kill your hair since it's been a few months. But the only way to go lighter from that black is to bleach it. Go to a professional though this time. They have some great conditioners that will help salvage your hair.

Definitely go to a professional, don't try to do it yourself, unless you want to end up buzzing your head clean.

Here's a tip that comes from the professionals:

don't ever dye your hair more than 2 shades lighter than your natural color, and don't go any darker (think of those scary roots). Your natural color is what goes best with your complexion, eyes, eyebrows, etc., and a little brightening or oomph is enough. Anything more just looks wrong.

You would actually have to strip your hair which is VERY bad for it. I had my hair black when I was about 16 and changing it back fried mine. I think that you need to give your hair a break. Being that you are a dude, I would suggest cutting it off and starting over. It might suck, but your hair will look much healthier. Then no more black. Go with the darkest brown that you can find and this will keep you from frying your hair. Dark is better for the winter any way. Good luck man.

Rather than bleaching it get a dye stripping product and use that. For black you may need to do it twice, it should then go back to the bleached color (plus regrowth). Then recolor. Don't forget to use a really good conditioning agent if your going to do that, as it is hard on the hair, but not as bad as bleaching.
