How come his black hair can shine orange?

I have a friend who is from India, he has black hair, but when the light shines on it in a certain way, it shines a type of orange. I pointed it out to him, and he doesn't know why. Would anyone here know why? I know a few other people from India and their hair doesn't shine like that.

Everybody's hair has different tones. Warm tones, cool tones, ash tones, etc. That's why in certain lights some brunettes' hair looks green, because they have ash tones. Many Asian and Hispanic people have an almost blue tint to their black or dark brown hair. Your friend probably has alot of golden orange tones in his hair, and that's what you are seeing in the sunlight.

Probaly because he has a different black than usual. Or maybe it's the lighting.

I think it's because most people who have "black" hair, it's not really black, it's dark, dark brown. The sunlight picks this up.
