Any safe way to die black hair to a blonde or light brown...its only black on the bottom?

I would like to here from hair professionals or someones real life experince. I have put some highlights in recently and they turned almost orange in the black...eeeekk!!

My natural hair colour is light brown, but i dyed it black for 5 years.. i tried lightentening it at home and it goes ginger and falls out... ive been to 3 hairdressers to lighten it and its taken a year!!!! so dont do it at home.. please go to a hairdressers.. it will be expensive but worth it ..
